Finding the Sacred in our Mundane.

Light gives space a sense of dimension and time and is entangled in social practices and sensations of space, security, spirituality and homeliness. Electric light is so common that we do not even notice it’s presence except when something is somehow wrong with it. The best light design is unnoticeable because it captures the atmosphere that people anticipate.

Hyygelig is a Light experience in your home that creates ‘Hygge’; an atmosphere of well-being, connection, warmth and a sense of belonging to a moment in your space, your home. Giving something ordinary; like a lamp, a special context, spirit and warmth, taking the time to make it extraordinary. It uses light as a primary source of material, using the principles of refraction to de-focus the light’s wavelength through water as a lens filter, to project the desired effect.

This work was created in collaboration with Mr. Henk van der Geest (Light Specialist, Amsterdam) and Mr. Kees Berende (Glass Blower, Eindhoven).
